It’s not even the only Rick & Morty-related song hitting the charts right now – such is the power of the cult show that ’Terryfold’, a deeply weird song written for a recent episode by Chaos Chaos (formerly known as Smoosh), is this week’s Billboard #33. Years after the albums release, For the Damaged Coda gained renewed exposure after appearing in the animated TV series Rick and Morty as the recurring theme. Episode ending music is 'For the Damaged Coda' by Blonde Redhead. Thought this might be interesting, at least from a music standpoint. It’s also Blonde Redhead’s most-played Spotify track by a huge margin, with over 6 million streams. So I found this album of Chopin piano works, and I found a snippet of this one Nocturne in F Minor that sounds exactly like the ending music from 'Close Rick-encounters of the Rick kind'. For this Halloween, I decided to work on my first Rick and Morty remix. It’s the second time the song has been used in the show – it also played over the final scene of a first-season episode, and appears to have become the theme for a malevolent recurring character. I'm assuming this was on purpose and the song is based of Nocturne in F min. The original song is called 'For the Damaged Coda'. On the Australian chart, it’s at #54, between local artists Dean Lewis (#53 with ’Lose My Mind’) and Ricki-Lee (#52 with ’Not Too Late’). Was watching Rick and Morty last night and I couldn't figure out why this song was so familiar. It was performed by the band Blonde Redhead, while the song features vocal singing it doesnt have any actual lyrics. While not originally villainous, it was later used in the adult animated television series Rick and Morty as Evil Mortys theme. Apparently as a direct result of this, it’s racked up nearly 250,000 Shazams, and is currently at #75 on the Global Shazam chart, just above Ed Sheeran’s ’Galway Girl’.
